We are a Part 61 Flight School

Our all-weather, all -terrain, flying environment contributes to a well rounded education. The airspace is non-congested and provides a wonderful learning atmosphere, while more complex airspace is only a short flight away.

    Cali’s first flight was as an EAA Young Eagle in 2012. She has since become an instructor with goals of continuing her career in commercial aviation. One of her favorite aviation memories is her first full circle moment, flying as a volunteer for the Young Eagles.

  • Justin Kruse

    Justin earned his private pilot’s certificate at the age of 19. He has worked most of his career as an IT consultant, but never forgot his childhood dream of being a professional pilot. After moving to North Idaho in 2020, he earned his commercial and instructor certificates. He enjoys instructing and passing on his passion to the next generation of young (and young at heart) aviators.

  • Rick Durden

    Rick Durden is a CFI-AI and MEI, holds an ATP with type ratings in the Douglas DC-3, Cessna Citation 500 and 680 and has experience in over 200 types of airplanes. He retired after practicing aviation law for 42 years, during which time he was involved in hundreds of aircraft accident cases. He is an active flight instructor and writer, including The Thinking Pilot's Flight Manual or, How to Survive Flying Little Airplanes and Have a Ball Doing it, Vols. 1-3, which are available at Northern Air. He was presented the FAA's Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in 2020.

    Myia started flying in October of 2023 and has since earned her private pilot certificate, tailwheel endorsement, and instrument rating. She is currently the office manager at NAI and is working on her commercial certificate. She plans to continue her career in aviation as a professional pilot.

Flight Training Devices

Redbired TD2 BATD

The Redbird TD2 is a useful tool in the first lessons of instrument training as a cost effective way to develop the foundations of instrument flying. It is also often used by pilots to maintain IFR currency.

Redbird FMX AATD

The Redbird FMX is a full motion advanced aviation training device. It has a wide range of uses including IFR training, IFR currency, and can also be used by private pilot students. The FMX can be configured as several different aircraft: Cirrus, Tecnam, PA34, CE182, and CE172.

Redbird Xwind

The Xwind aids in helping students learn to safely handle wind with a variety of different speeds and gusts that can be programmed. It is used by both students and pilots to build confidence and proficiency.
